Wiring Harness Mechanical Design Engineer

📋 Description

• Design and develop wiring harness assemblies with Mechanical, Electrical, and Systems Eng teams
• Create and release wiring harness docs: drawings, schematics, routing diagrams
• Perform wire sizing, routing constraints, bend radius, and strain relief analyses
• Support harness architecture with guidance from senior engineers, routing through complex assemblies
• DFM focus with Manufacturing and Supplier Engineering
• Hands-on prototyping and assembly of wiring harnesses using standard lab tools

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 5+ years relevant experience
• 3+ years engineering experience, including 1+ years wiring harness design
• Working knowledge of electrical fundamentals for harness design: current, grounding, shielding
• Strong mechanical design fundamentals, materials, tolerances, and DFM
• Understanding harness integration: routing, strain relief, packaging constraints
• Experience using CAD tools (SolidWorks) and harness drawings (BOMs, wire lists)
