📋 Description

  • Lead three teams: privacy compliance, safety and revenue compliance, and security GRC.
  • Partner with product and engineering to identify obligations and build sustainable controls.
  • Own Discord's product risk registers across privacy, safety, and security; drive risk scoring and remediation.
  • Build and maintain a control library and compliance maturity framework with prioritized goals.
  • Produce risk and compliance reporting for audiences inside the company, from teams to senior leadership.
  • Lay the foundation for audits and certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27001, and others as they arise).

🎯 Requirements

  • 12+ years in compliance, risk mgmt with leadership across multiple subject areas.
  • Breadth across at least two core domains: privacy (GDPR, CCPA), online safety/content regulation (DSA, COPPA), or security (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST CSF).
  • Experience owning risk registers, building/maintaining control libraries, setting maturity targets, and producing risk reporting.
  • Experience managing teams across multiple compliance disciplines (7+ people across three areas).
  • Strong executive communication; able to clearly present risk posture to senior leadership and align stakeholders.
  • Real point of view on how programs should be built and run, adaptable to Discord's stage and risk profile.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment with incomplete information.
