Engineering Manager - GPU Kernel

📋 Description

• Lead and mentor a GPU kernel engineering team; own hiring and growth.
• Set technical direction for the kernel roadmap; balance short-term wins with long-term investments.
• Align kernel work with Baseten's broader inference stack strategy.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration with Model Performance, Capacity, and Infra teams.
• Review kernel designs; provide deep feedback on GPU architecture and optimization.
• Maintain hands-on involvement while building processes and roadmap for a distributed team.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience leading a team of GPU or ML systems engineers; hire and develop talent.
• Deep background in GPU kernel engineering; produced production CUDA kernels.
• Strong understanding of GPU architecture: memory hierarchy, warp, tensor cores, occupancy, profiling.
• Experience with NVIDIA GPU architectures (Hopper or Blackwell preferred) and the CUDA ecosystem.
• Ability to set technical direction, prioritize a roadmap, and communicate across teams.
• Nice to have: Triton, CUTLASS, or CuTe DSL.
