Field Engineer

📋 Description

• Lead technical discovery conversations and assess use case fit using Materialize's qualification frameworks
• Design and deliver tailored demos and POVs with clear success criteria
• Explain Materialize's architecture and positioning vs Flink, Snowflake, Databricks
• Partner with Account Executives on deal strategy and MEDPICC execution
• Maintain Salesforce hygiene with technical risk flags and deal health updates
• Guide customers from closed-won to first production workloads

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Field Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Technical Consulting, or Solutions Architecture
• Strong understanding of modern data architectures, including relational databases, event streaming, and microservices
• Proficiency with SQL and the ability to reason about query behavior and performance
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerized environments
• Strong communication skills and comfort presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences
• A structured, process-oriented mindset paired with the flexibility needed in a fast-growing startup
