Forward Deployed Engineer - Systems

📋 Description

• Work with customers to architect and deploy large-scale workloads on Modal
• Lead technical discovery and architecture sessions with customers
• Architect migration paths from AWS/GCP/Azure to Modal's serverless platform
• Collaborate with product and sales as engineer and stakeholder
• Build relationships with CTOs/VPs of Eng/ML leads at frontier AI companies
• Conduct demos and proofs-of-concept to show Modal's infrastructure advantages

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Hands-on cloud: AWS, GCP, Azure; compute, storage, networking; Docker, Kubernetes
• Distributed systems, data pipelines, and IaC (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation)
• Strong communicator; deep systems architecture discussions with leadership
• Genuine interest in working directly with customers and solving problems
• Willing to work in-person in NYC, SF, or Stockholm; bonus: migration/open-source contributions
