Head of Lending, Kenya

📋 Description

• Own the lending P&L, accountable for full economics: revenue, cost of funds, credit losses, and
• Set the commercial and credit strategy, deciding SME segments, loan products/terms, and pricing for
• Grow a portfolio with healthy unit economics, building the SME lending book from zero into a
• Drive distribution for lending, defining channels (direct sales/partnerships) and working with
• Partner closely with Product, Data Science, Finance, Risk, and Compliance, bringing commercial view
• Build and lead the commercial lending team, hiring and managing portfolio/relationship management

🎯 Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in lending, specifically with experience originating, underwriting
• Direct, demonstrable ownership of a lending P&L, with proven ability to describe full economics
• A track record of building or meaningfully scaling an SME (or comparable) lending book in a market
• Comfort operating cross-functionally without owning functions around you. (Product, Data Science
• Strong quantitative and analytical ability, comfortable with unit economics, portfolio performance
• Exposure to the Kenyan or East African lending market is an advantage but not a requirement.
