📋 Description

• Edit stories from staff writers and freelancers for tone, structure, grammar, syntax, punctuation
• Verify information, uphold journalistic integrity, ensure factual accuracy, and maintain compliance
• Format and prepare approved articles for publication using the content management system (CMS)
• Work constructively with writers to improve their storytelling and editorial skills
• Identify and prevent plagiarism, duplicate content, and other issues
• Collaborate with other editors to develop compelling headlines and select appropriate images

🎯 Requirements

• At least four years of editing experience in a print newsroom, digital newsroom, or comparable
• Exceptional writing, copyediting, proofreading, and revision abilities
• Fluency in Associated Press (AP) style
• Strong editorial judgment and understanding of newsworthiness
• Knowledge of U.S. progressive politics and the broader news landscape
• Careful, methodical approach to fact-checking
