Phycology Technician

📋 Description

• Perform the preparation and analysis of freshwater and wastewater samples for algal counts, species
• Conduct microbiological, asbestos, and BOD testing in accordance with established laboratory
• Deliver high-quality analytical results by ensuring samples are processed within holding times and
• Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient laboratory environment, ensuring equipment is properly
• Support data validation activities to ensure the accuracy and integrity of technical reports.
• Carry out routine instrument calibration and maintenance in line with documented procedures.

🎯 Requirements

• A degree in Science with a background in Phycology, Marine Biology, Aquatic Biology, Aquatic
• 1-3 years' experience in algal identification gained through either industry or academic settings.
• Hands-on experience using microscopes for sample analysis and identification.
• A passion for environmental science, laboratory operations, and delivering high-quality scientific
• Desirable: Experience working in a NATA-accredited laboratory environment.
• Desirable: Experience performing microbiological analysis and testing.
