Principal Software Engineer - Vector Search - Elasticsearch

📋 Description

• Lead initiatives within Elasticsearch to enhance vector similarity search and speed.
• Contribute to Elasticsearch features, fix bugs, and design new algorithms or data structures.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed team on vector search capabilities.
• Be the go-to expert on vector similarity for relevance and performance questions.
• Engage with global community members on issues and PRs, sometimes triaging.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong experience in vector similarity on large-scale search platforms.
• Professional experience with vector databases and algorithms (HNSW, IVF, etc.).
• Excellent core Java skills and familiarity with concurrency and data structures.
• Autonomous, capable of driving projects end-to-end in a distributed team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; collaborative across internet-based teams.
• Experience with storage tech (Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).
