Research and Education Partnerships Manager

📋 Description

• Own and operate the Modal for Academics program end-to-end
• Identify sponsorships with university courses, ML labs, and conferences
• Build relationships with professors and researchers at top universities
• Partner with AI research labs on compute grants and programs
• Track outcomes: grants, papers, citations, talks, and Modal adoption
• Represent Modal at academic conferences and research events

🎯 Requirements

• A PhD or research Master's from a strong ML/CS program or with a large compute component
• Evidence of operating beyond pure research (workshops, student groups, grants, internships)
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to represent Modal to professors
• Good judgment about what's worth pursuing; select high-impact opportunities
• Organized and self-directed; manages dozens of relationships
• Comfortable working in-person in a fast-paced startup
