Senior Legal Counsel - Product & Privacy

📋 Description

• Identify and advise on privacy, data protection, IP, marketing, and AI-related laws.
• Advise on product development (agentic/generative AI), go-to-market terms, partnerships, and consumer terms.
• Develop and operationalize company-wide AI policies, processes, and legal frameworks.
• Draft and maintain legal playbooks and internal guidance for AI tools.
• Collaborate with privacy, IP, security, product and engineering teams.
• Build scalable processes for legal review to enable launches of new products.

🎯 Requirements

• Legally qualified (AUS/NZ, UK, EU or US practising certificate).
• 10+ years practicing law with in-house experience, preferably in tech.
• Familiarity with global digital, AI, privacy, consumer, online safety laws (EU AI Act, GDPR, DSA, etc.).
• Deep understanding of modern AI tech and products; opinions on generative/agentic AI and related privacy/IP concerns.
• Comfortable collaborating with teams across time zones.
• Collaborative, pragmatic, business-minded lawyer who helps Canva grow.
