Staff Software Engineer - API Platform (AU remote)

📋 Description

• Designing and building the core infrastructure that connects services across Canva's backend
• Leading a major migration of how our backend services communicate, working closely with partner
• Driving support for more languages and frameworks so more teams can build natively on our platform
• Owning the reliability, performance and correctness of systems that sit in the critical path for
• Mentoring engineers and helping raise the technical bar across the team

🎯 Requirements

• Experience building and operating infrastructure that other engineering teams depend on, ideally in
• Comfortable owning systems where reliability and correctness matter, thinking in trade-offs rather
• Ability to drive technical direction across teams that don't report to you
• Ability to communicate technical direction clearly to both engineers and teams who consume what you
• Genuine ownership of outcomes and motivation for platform work that makes everyone else's job easier
• Years of experience owning large-scale, high-transaction production systems commercially, ideally
