Staff Software Engineer, Time and Scheduling

📋 Description

• Design, build, and test Gusto core products across the Time domain
• Mentor other engineers to solve hard technical problems at scale
• Help scale a large Ruby/Rails and Javascript/React application
• Collaborate with Product, Data, Design, and Platform Engineering to prototype, iterate, and launch
• Create products that customers genuinely love
• Own features from early spec through launch and long-term iteration

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of software development experience
• Experience building scalable solutions that reduce customer pain
• Experience leveraging AI tools or systems to accelerate development and testing
• Curiosity with emerging AI frameworks and best practices for safe, scalable AI use
• Experience owning multi-quarter projects with measurable customer impact
• Experience with large-scale refactors and reliability concerns; strong ownership
